Special Events / Fundraising:

INTERIOR COMMUNITY SERVICES – Yard Waste Removal Volunteers – Volunteers are needed to pick up yard waste and take it to the local compost centre. The vehicle will be provided but volunteers need a class 5 drivers license and a clean driver abstract. Volunteers will be required one day a week from the end of September to the end of October. This program is part of the Better at Home Program which helps seniors live independently in their own homes.

BOOGIE THE BRIDGE – Various Volunteer Opportunities – Volunteer opportunities include Communications Team Lead, Food Team Lead, Volunteer Team Lead, and Entertainment Team Lead. Responsibilities vary for each position. Boogie the Bridge event is April 26, 2020.

 

Current Volunteer Positions:

VOLUNTEER KAMLOOPS – Snow Angel Volunteers needed – We are seeking volunteers for the Snow Angels program in various areas of Kamloops. Must be physically fit and reliable. Please complete our volunteer application online and specify you are interested in Snow Angels.

SALVATION ARMY – Bell Ringer – Volunteer at one of many locations across town to be a Bell Ringer at one of the Salvation Army’s Red Kettles their largest fundraiser of the year. Scheduling is flexible and there are indoor and outdoor locations available. This volunteer opportunity is Family Friendly.

OVERLANDER – Trinity Care- Volunteers will Assist in short stay 4-bed area community hospice. Responsibilities include 1-1 Visiting, Reading to Patients, Preparing Coffee/Light Refreshments. Volunteers must be Reliable and Responsible, able to work as a team, and willing and able to take Hospice Training offered at no charge.

CANADIAN RED CROSS – Emergency Response Team (ERT) Responder – Volunteers work collaboratively with a team of trained responders, supervisors, and site manager to conduct emergency preparedness activities and to assess the needs of people affected by an emergency.

CANADIAN RED CROSS – Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) Responder – Volunteers will join the worlds largest humanitarian network. The will work collaboratively as part of an experienced team of trained responders and supervisors and will conduct client needs assessments to determine immediate and shot-term needs of clients for items such as shelter, food, clothing, and transportation. Providing emotional support and comfort is also necessary. Volunteers will work with their team to ensure response supplies are properly stocked and available, conduct emergency preparedness activities, and more.

KAMLOOPS IMMIGRANT SERVICES – Various Volunteers – Volunteers are needed for various duties including cooking instructors, recipe book editor, conversation circle, gardening workshop instructors, indoor and outdoor events assistants, kids activities and program volunteers, mentorship volunteers, yoga instructors, workshop/instructor and guest speakers, workshop and events photographer, and computer mentors.

BROCKLEHURST GEMSTONE CARE CENTRE – Various Volunteer Opportunities- Volunteer Opportunities include Friendly Visitor Volunteers, Teen Volunteers, Concession Stand Volunteers, and more.
