Heart and Stroke Foundation	Administrative Volunteer - School Programs - Volunteers will assist the School Programs Coordinator with administration and office tasks. The volunteers will spend most of the time in the Area Office completing paperwork, typing tasks, and if possible, driving to schools and collecting materials prior to events. Volunteers should be computer literate, have experience with office software, and able to multitask with attention to detail, good organization and communication skills, and have experience with data entry. St. John Ambulance	Branch Executive Committee Members - Kamloops Branch Executive Committee is responsible to the Provincial Council for promoting and coordinating the affairs of St. John Ambulance in this community. This includes the volunteer services of the Brigade Division, the Therapy Dog Program and other programs. All members attend regularly scheduled meetings (approx. 10/year) to provide guidance and input; participate as a member of a committee as requested; other community engagement and representation of SJA.

Extensive training provided, require a mature confident personality and long-term commitment. FILLED - individuals to train as spares or for alternating shifts would be helpful.
John Howard Society	Outreach Worker Assistants- working alongside outreach workers to support various clients in life skills development and positive activities to enhance their quality of life. Working with paroled offenders - volunteers will be matched based on their experience, interests and ability to work with the specific type of client.

The senior may have recently lost a spouse/partner, may be dealing with family situations, legal issues, banking, housing, etc. Visitors are during the day, and will visit each client 2-3 times and then move to another senior.

Driving
Kamloops Community Safety & Enforcement	Citizens on Patrol- assist the police by providing extra eyes and ears in monitoring criminal activity. Volunteers are paired with a partner. Equipment and training are provided. Volunteers report crime, locate stolen vehicles, and assist in patrols of areas of interest to help make our community a safe place to live. Great experience for those interested in pursuing a career in policing.
Kamloops Community Safety & Enforcement	Speed Watch- work in partnership with ICBC and RCMP Traffic Section to monitor speed zones. This is an educational program aimed at reducing incidents of speeding. Volunteers monitor speeds in high visibility and high traffic areas, utilizing specialized speed reader equipment.
Interior Community Services	Meals on Wheels Delivery/Drivers - volunteers deliver meals between 10:30 and 12:30 on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Volunteers use their own vehicles and gas. A tax receipt for mileage is issued every November. Drivers brighten the day for many people in our community showing concern, having a friendly chat and making sure all is well.
Navy League of Canada	Recycling Bottle Pick-up - drive to Aberdeen Mall and pick up bottles for recycling once a week. (May require 2 pickups during holidays/busy times). Load them into your own truck and take to General Grants for counting. General Grants will apply the money to the Navy League of Canada, Kamloops Branch account.
New Life Mission	Donations Pickup and Delivery - driver will do pickup and deliveries on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tuesday is to the North Shore and back, and Thursday is Sahali and back.
New Life Mission	Swamper - this volunteer rides as a passenger in the delivery vehicle helping with donation pick-up.

YMCA/YWCA	Strong Kids Campaign - In 2010, the Kamloops Y provided 129,000 dollars in financial assistance to children and families so they could use Y services like swim lessons and camp. The Strong Kids Campaign raises money every year so the Y can keep its doors open to everyone regardless of their financial circumstances. Volunteering on this campaign is a great opportunity to work with a team of people dedicated to a cause - helping kids. You will receive training and participate in team events, such as a pancake breakfast for volunteers. Canadian Mental Health Association	Clubhouse and Youth Clubhouse Helpers - Volunteers will participate in an array of established psychiatric rehab programs for individuals with a long term mental illness. Programs are designed to strengthen an individual's abilities and skills necessary to meet their needs for housing, employment, socialization and personal growth. Volunteers will interact one-to-one with individuals - computer assistance, teaching crafts as well as helping with the general up keep of the Clubhouse.
Canucks Autism Network	Soccer Program Volunteer - Volunteers work under the guidance of the coach and help support participants, provide positive encouragement, role model appropriate behavior, assist in setting up and execution of various soccer drills. Eureka Science Program	Weekly Assistant Volunteer Instructor - responsible for classroom support for the EUReKA! Science Program's summer camps. Volunteers help the instructors in the classroom and work directly with the children.
Heart and Stroke Foundation	Ambassador - School Programs - Volunteers will assist the School Programs Coordinator by attending schools and delivering the "Heart Hero Huddle" presentations and to attend the schools event days to help out and thank the students, parents, and teachers for their participation. Willing volunteers may also support by collecting money and paperwork from schools, or with in-office administration tasks. Volunteers should be energetic and enthusiastic persononalities, have a desire to work with children, have excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills, public speaking skills with experience speaking with children, good organization and problem solving skills. One to One Children's Literacy Program	Volunteer Tutors - This program trains volunteers in simple reading strategies so they can help children who are struggling with some aspect of their reading. Volunteer tutors read one to one with children at local elementary schools. 16 years old minimum age to volunteer. Contact Cheryl Gagliano or call 250-376-0612.
YMCA/YWCA	Basketball Referee - To referee Steve Nash Basketball games for players from grades 4 to 7, and to assist the Gym Supervisor on Saturdays. This is seasonal from October to November - January to February for 2 hours per day from 9am to 1pm. Contact Registration 400 Battle Street. Applications forms available on the website.
